Jim J. Adams, Ed.D., Professor of Leadership, Executive Director Center for Global Learning and Engagement, Azusa Pacific University, USAProfessor Jim J. Adams

Jim is executive director of the Center for Global Learning and Engagement (CGLE) at Azusa Pacific University, located near Los Angeles, California, USA (www.apu.edu). The CGLE at APU includes study abroad operations as well as the overall advancement and assessment of academic intentional internationalization at the university. Jim holds a concurrent appointment as professor in the department of leadership and college student counseling.

Jim has served in leadership positions for over thirty-five years, as well as performing consulting work in several schools and universities. Prior to coming to APU, he was the superintendent and chief executive officer of a private school system in Southern California, and previously vice president and chief operating officer at Life Pacific College in San Dimas, California. His research interests include international education and leadership, faculty performance, and developing creative leadership in the K-12 and higher education sectors.

Jim is passionate about developing leaders in the global context, and has taught leadership courses in the US and worldwide (England, Ethiopia, Ghana, Lithuania, and Singapore) over the past seventeen years. He is a member of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and NAFSA: the Association of International Educators, as well as being actively involved in several community groups and boards.

Jim holds the BA in Religion from Life Pacific College, the MA in Social Science (with Leadership Emphasis) from Azusa Pacific University, and the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California where he received the dissertation of the year award and was inducted into Phi Delta Kappa. He is listed in Marquis’ Who’s Who in America (2010).

 

Dr Alice de Jonge, Senior Lecturer, Department of Business Law and Taxation, Monash University, Australia - www.monash.edu.au Dr Alice de Jonge

Alice is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the department of business law and taxation of Monash University. She lectures in the post-graduate subjects’ Asian business law, international law and policy and international trade law. Alice has an arts degree, a law degree, a graduate diploma in Asian business law and a Doctorate of Juridical Science (SJD) from the University of Melbourne. She also studied at post-graduate level for one year at Fudan University, Shanghai, PRC.

In 1998 Alice was awarded the Law Asia Research Award and in 2008 she was awarded the Dean’s Award for excellence in teaching (Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University). She is the author of two books - Corporate Governance and China’s H-Share Market (Edward Elgar, 2008) and Transnational Corporations and International Law: Accountability in the global business environment (Edward Elgar, 2011) - as well as numerous other book chapters and journal articles.

Alice is a regular volunteer at the Moreland Community Legal Service Centre and for a local church op-shop on Saturday mornings. She swims and/or runs daily.

 

Dr Fragkiskos Filippaios, PhD, Senior Lecturer in International Business, Director of Postgraduate Programmes and Accreditations, Kent Business School, University of Kent, UK - www.kent.ac.uk Dr Fragkiskos Filippaios

Fragkiskos is currently the Director for Graduate Studies and Accreditations and a Senior Lecturer in International Business at Kent Business School, University of Kent. Previously he was the International MBA Course Director at Kingston Business School, Kingston University London holding the responsibility for all international MBA programmes offered by Kingston University London, in Russia, Greece, Cyprus and India. The academic year 2007/2008 he was the Ministry of Economy and Finance Senior Research Fellow at the Hellenic Observatory, European Institute, London School of Economics.

His research interests are on the roles of subsidiaries of Multinational Enterprises, the location strategies of multinationals’ subsidiaries, the role of technology in the multinational group and the empirical assessment of Foreign Direct Investment.

He has worked as a consultant for the Ministry of Development in Greece and published in internationally recognised academic journals. Currently, he contributes to Kent Business School’s undergraduate, postgraduate and executive teaching as well as to the design of new programmes, in the UK and internationally. He also acts as a reviewer for various international journals, he is an Association of MBAs Accreditation panel member and he is an active member of the Academy of International Business and the European and International Business Academy.

Mr Vangelis Tsiligiris, College Principal, MBS College, Greece, www.mbs.edu.gr - PhD cand., Birmingham City University, UK - www.bcu.ac.uk Mr Vangelis Tsiligiris

Vangelis Tsiligiris is an economist and for the past ten years has been setting up, leading, and managing cross border higher education partnerships between private for-profit education institutions and UK Universities. Currently he is the Principal of MBS College. He has recently finished his PhD thesis which is titled 'Cross Border Higher Education and Quality Management' at Birmingham City University.

He is an academic board member of the assessment committee of EDU – the intergovernmental organisation formed by international treaty to promote quality education and accreditation. He participates as an advisor in the development of Mendeley, a reference management software and academic network. He teaches accounting, finance, and business valuation at postgraduate level in the programmes of University of Liverpool which are offered online in partnership with Laureate International Universities.

Vangelis has conducted research on issues such as student expectations and perceptions, quality management in the globalised higher education, and cultural influence on quality of higher education. He is using social media to participate in the dialogue about the recent developments in international higher education and he has recently been invited to contribute to the Guardian HE and the Times Higher Education. He publishes the daily paper 'Cross Border Higher Education; on Paper.li and on Scoop.it. In March 2012 he will be a speaker at the Going Global 2012 conference in London.
